(unpopular opinion) Am I the only one who thinks Reapermini's Bones series miniatures are a terrible way to introduce someone to the hobby?

So you're saying you do a uniform base coat on the hole bones mini before painting? If so, you're just priming with regular paint no?

It seems really counter to your guys's points that Bones are for noobs, when you then say, oh well some paints don't work on them and will bead up, you can't thin with water if you paint directly to the plastic, the fact that you can't clean up flash and things of that nature without usual special methods and even those don't work, plus the lack of detail and the issues with small fiddly bits never being straight and on top of this some of the miniatures come out of the molds like trash and others are just fine.

It sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me, you don't have to agree, I still think you should prime them first whether they'll take paint without primer or not, even if just so that you have a uniform layer of paint before you begin.

I'm sorry you disagree and don't find me helpful at this given time, but recommending bones, to me, is like recommending you go buy a master airbrush, or krylon primer or cheap craft store brushes. It may not matter to new painters, but because I know better options than those and I have bad experiences with those, of course I'm not going to recommend them. I'm not going to advise that you go support crappy products, whether you'll know the difference or not. It's like, oh you've never had surgery before? Okay well go get your eye surgery from the cheap doctor in a slum in mexico, you won't know the difference right?

I will accept that they can take paint without primer, my experiences with them have been garbage in this regard, but whatever, I'll accept that they are the best cheap miniature on the market, but I do not think it is the best way for a new painter to start and the only time I will and have ever recommended people buy bones, is when they straight up say "I'm broke, I need cheap miniatures." Otherwise, to hell with bones, they suck.
