Unpopular Opinion: Black Mirror is Empty, Mono-dimensional, Middle-Class Techno-porn.

No, it's the fact you can't recreate what makes us human

I agree. And yet here is a show which not only denies that, by creating a virtual character which is indistinguishable from a real human, but actually celebrates (not to mention mawkishly sentimentalises over) the denial.

I'd strongly disagree that the universal themes…

Universal!?

…contained within are only applicable to middle class life

I didn’t say they were. I said that it is a middle class world. Everyone in it is middle class, think, act and talk as middle class people do. Not only that, they are all identical to each other. The extraordinary claim that the ‘themes’ (i.e. the one, or at most two themes) are universal could only be asserted by someone who thinks, acts and talks in the same way.

But hey, it's just differences of opinion.

Yeah :) Good to debate these things. Only a fool seeks agreement. Listening and friendly debating is enough.

so it seems a little bit odd to constantly compare a TV show to a different medium or to Shakespeare.

They are all stories which present the dark side.
