Unpopular opinion? : I’d rather have good parents who are poor than abusive parents who are rich and provide a lot

I definitely get what you're saying as a first-generation immigrant, but as u/paradox-ox said, we really shouldn't compare the two. While people in abusive households have it bad at home (which I know also affects school life sometimes), their school life typically tends to be better than people from poor, but good families. Abusive households also can be addressed in the additional info section but trying to say that one situation has an "advantage" over the other rubs some people in the wrong way. Both of them are bad situations that are not adequately addressed (abuse isn't always taken seriously by AOs and some Ivies have more kids from the top 1% than the bottom 60%), but they shouldn't be compared.

To anyone reading this who is in an abusive household: please feel free to PM me if you ever need to talk about it.
