Unpopular Opinion: I don’t think the Doctor should ever be seen to be actively romantic with their human companions.

I don't agree. I think it adds plenty to the story. Why can't the Doctor have a romantic side. Besides their all adults. I really reject this age difference argument because 1. May-December romances are totally a thing and have worked many times in real life and 2. It's not like the show actually treats the Doctor like a thousand year old being. By that logic they should be so detached that they can't even make friends anymore.

By saying the Doctor can't have a romance with the companions because they're in their 20s and the age difference is too big, and equating it to human years, it also makes the idea that they could even have friends in their 20s seem weird. And I wouldn't infantilize the companions. They're adults. Let them be adults. I remember being in my early 20s and I wanted to be seen as an adult that could do adult things. It's never implied that any romance isn't consensual or a substitute for more depraved actions. So I say let the romance go on.
