(Unpopular opinion) Enterprise is the last Trek that feels like old school Trek

Star Trek has a lot more competition now that streaming services are THE way to get viewers, and shows today are made specifically for this kind release. Its not something you just catch on Syfy endless re-runs anymore (well... you still can I guess). There aren't enough hours in the day to watch everything, so people pick what appeals to them the most.

Star Trek was dead after Enterprise was cancelled, and even Star Wars had major problems with the prequel trilogy that was released at roughly the same time as Enterprise was on TV. Both learned their lessons the hard way in that respect.

"Old school trek" won't work for a studio looking to throw money at it, the "old school" part came from shitty budgets and re-using a lot of props and plots to save time and money. Discovery doesn't have that problem.
