what defines persuasion? you say seeming nervous isn’t grounds to drop you but being monotone is. where’s the brightline? is a higher pitched voice that someone finds “annoying” enough to “not deserve a win”? what about an accent? stuttering? your bangs preventing eye contact with the judge? having less talking points probably makes it seem like you didn’t prepare enough and thus only have one thing to say- does that make you less persuasive?
we have a predetermined idea of what “persuasion” is when its not grounded in actual content but in the way we talk or convey things- people who talk a certain way, look a certain way. the only way to even TRY to not be exclusionary is by evaluating the actual points being made.
