unpopular opinion: i would rather you keep walking than put your dog into a sitting heel when passing by.

I cannot choose distance in these scenarios. our streets are narrow, and there is no path.

I say it’s different for reactive dogs because of impulse control. I see no reason for someone with a non-reactive dog to need to sit and heel each time a dog passes by, because that dog can handle to just keep walking.

I don’t think it’s thin ice, I think it’s like saying someone who doesn’t need training wheels should take them off. this may be an unpopular train of thought, and I recognize that.

I’ve seen this handler around town with their dog, as well. their dog is immaculately trained, and at this point there should be times that you don’t need to sit and heel every time you see a dog walking down the street.
