uOttawa has gotten rid of its student union because of financial mismanagement and incompetence. A reminder that the SFSS isn't immune. (x-post /r/geegees)

Though I no longer attend at SFU and have finished my degree, I can definitely agree that the SFSS was completely incompetent and poorly managed during my experiences with some of my friends who were either elected or worked there.

Many of the elected body have issues with basic English and often typed up documents which made zero sense to native English speakers. At some point, many of them were even forced to take English classes provided by the SFSS. This is where your student fees go - teaching people English writing and comprehension skills which should have been tested for as a university requirement for admission.

The worst part of it is that money would often go missing from the budget with no explanation of where it went. SFSS members were thought to be casually siphoning off a few dollars here and there and as far as I can tell, nobody ever audited their funds for years.

The SFSS shouldn't even exist given their gross incompetence and mismanagement of funds.
