It's up to Russia to prevent war in Ukraine, NATO chief says | CBC News

Please don't see this as fearmongering or anything...

This is HIGHLY speculative and unrealistic, but i wonder what would happen if they out of the blue quickly rolled into the baltic countries and occupied those. If they took Gotland, and quickly cut off the approach to Latvia between Kaliningrad and Belarus. How would NATO react? They would have a really hard time utilizing the Baltic Sea and Russia would gain a strong foothold in the baltics. Is that a scenario in which NATO would be weary to respond with force? Or is the credibility of Article 5 more important than anything?

I do not believe such a scenario to be likely but i realized that if I would start a conflict with NATO that's how i would do it. I don't even have an armchair though so...
