I know if my mum got rid of my cats, especially for a boyfriend, I would never forgive her. I’d probably distance myself from her and have limited contact, after showing such blatant disregard for my feelings (and my cats).

You, and your son, deserve better than this bloke who made you get rid of your son’s cat. I understand you’ve been lonely but take a step back in future and think about whether it (or he) is really making you happy.
