Update from the LEAD program and the US Air Force Academy

Thank you for your post.

I went through the process of applying to the Academy as a young, inspired A1C back in 2013. The goal was to go through the 5 year phase in hopes of getting a fighter pilot slot. I got my CC's endorsement and package ready to submit to my recruiter, but I had a change of heart. During that time I met my then girlfriend. I decided to drop out not only due to meeting my GF (now wife), but I was so sure that I could get a degree faster and comission sooner. Additionally, I've been dealing with migraines that is paired with "auras" that basically mess with my vision. It was a tough decision to back out, but I'm glad I made it. 8 years in, I'm now a TSgt select and few classes away to getting my degree.

Meeting new co-workers that in-process in my SQ, I encourage them to look into the LEAD program especially if they have the work ethic and leadership qualities.

Best of luck to you throughout the rest of your studies OP!
