UPDATE: My (21F) boyfriend (22M) in the marines just admitted to me that he wants to die in combats.

You don't think wars like Korea were justified? I mean the results of that war are right before you.

It's as if you completely glazed over the cold war. Do you think the US military should have just rolled over and let the Russians keep on pushing west? Red fear mongering was a thing, sure. But an oppressive communist regime that killed hundreds of millions, and spawned more despots that killed hundreds of millions more was a very real threat.

The world was split in half, and people like you look at western involvement in Korea or Vietnam and all the other little micro wars as unjustifiable, simply because they forgot what the USSR was like or more likely are too young to even care.

If you want to say that the US post cold war being world police is bad, and that this position can and in the recent wars has been exploited by corporations, okay. But don't say dumb shit like "not a single war since WWII can be remotely justified", or question why a military exists. Because all you really show is that you're parroting crap you heard in a drum circle and not actually exercising thought. As shitty as it may be, reality is not pretty, like Chimpanzees we are a warrior species. That will not change until EVERYONE puts their weapons down at the same time, which will not happen anywhere near our lifetime.

Wars will happen, a military to protect our interests and allow people like you to have the freedom to be a tool is a necessity. This military entices people to put their lives on the line through all the potential benefits it offers recruits.

But this is going way off the topic of the original post. People like yourself are as closed minded as the far right you love to hate.
