[UPDATE] My [26/F] boyfriend [30/M] refuses to be my date at my cousin's wedding in December

Orrrrrr, some people just realize how expensive and ridiculous the wedding industry is and would rather not waste the money because they find the actually marriage to be more important than going into debt over the wedding?

Like, I get it; it's shitty to look down on others because they did choose to go the expensive route, but I think it's a stretch to assume that everyone who is happy to have just gone to city hall is a self-hating misogynist. I'm actually a wedding photographer, I've seen all different sorts of weddings - and it's how I know that a big wedding is not for me. I just can't justify the cost in my mind, and nor am I comfortable with being the center of attention all day.
