Update on multi strain syringe grow, looks like it's coming along nicely!

The amount of time you've been on shroomery is hardly a source. I don't care if you've been posting on shroomery for fifty years, facts are facts. Your partially right. Penis envy is an exception, albino strains too, but other then that, I assure you cubes are cubes and they all look basically the same. Here's proof, from RR: "You won't be able to identify 'strain' by looking, either with or without a microscope, penis envy and the albinos/redspore strains excepted." -RR "They always ask about the 'name' and the fact is, you never know what you're going to get(penis envy excluded) from a named 'strain' other than the fact it will be cubensis." -RR

Don't accuse me of spreading misinformation, especially when you are spreading misinformation in the same post. I always post proof to back up what I say, I'm not making shit up. If you disagree, don't be lazy, find proof and post a link so I can learn something new if your right. If your gonna make empty statements with no substance and no proof don't tell me I need to "study more". All I do is study. Don't mean to be harsh, but I've been in this hobby for a long long time as well and I'm not here to measure dicks, I'm here to learn and to help others learn.

Same quotes In context with links:

Read the above quotes more carefully. You'll notice in the first quote the word 'named' which is absent from the second. A print of ABC strain will produce thousands, if not millions of 'strains'. Each will have different characteristics from the others. The same would go for a print named XYZ strain. By isolating strains you can find the features you wish to propagate.

Remember, the definition of strain is a pairing of compatible hyphae. It isn't the name some guy wrote on the print all those hyphae came from.

That's why we relegate strain questions to this bastard stepchild of a thread. They always ask about the 'name' and the fact is, you never know what you're going to get(penis envy excluded) from a named 'strain' other than the fact it will be cubensis. If I didn't actually think strain in the true sense of the word was important, I wouldn't spend so much time on explaining how to do strain isolations. I hope this clears that up. And opinions they are. They're like something else everyone has.

We need a strain thread because we were getting five to twenty strain threads started every day because people wouldn't read any of them, but simply start a new one. Now we close those so people who really want information can find it without endless, worthless discussion about strains in three or four threads per page.

I could take five different 'strains' and do a grow with each one, and then post pictures of them with a list of the five strains used. I'd bet the responses couldn't average more than 1 out of 5 correct, which are the odds if everyone simply guessed while blindfolded.

There are no cultivation parameters that are different between strains. There are no substrate parameters that are different between strains. There are no temperature parameters that are different between strains. You won't be able to identify 'strain' by looking, either with or without a microscope, penis envy and the albinos/redspore strains excepted.

Each and every strain can grow very large, or very small fruits, depending on the substrain that emerges. Each can be very potent, or inert. Each strain can produce genetics that can withstand cooler temperatures, or higher temperatures. This is what experienced growers mean when we say they're all the same. They're all the same because they're all different, even grow to grow from the same syringe.

This is why we chose to keep the strain discussion up here. It goes nowhere, but gets endlessly repeated. Have fun. RR Source: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7429630#7429630
