[Update] One Month Ketoversary, advice appreciated

Love your awesomely descriptive language (boyfriend with the keto-adapted eyes and hunger that speaks to you like Smiegal).

Some thoughts...your calories do seem high at 1700 to 1800. I'm surprised that you lost two pounds at those levels. Those were probably appropriate while becoming accustomed to the diet, but you'll likely need to adjust them down if you want to make progress toward your goal.

I ran your numbers through the keto calculator at http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

This calculator puts your break-even maintenance calories at 1548. Note that I used "sedentary" as the activity level since this calculator is known to overcompensate for higher activity levels. It is better to account for your exercise separately by eating a bit more when your hunger speaks to you.

  • 1238 kcal Goal, a 20% deficit. (809 min, 1548 max)
  • 20g Carbohydrates
  • 71g Protein (54g min, 88g max)
  • 97g Fat (50g min, 131g max)

Notice that the 1238 calories is right in the range of what you were doing before keto.

I would try to avoid the heavy cream concoctions and other fat bomb snacks. People typically use fat bombs when trying to hit a fat macro that they otherwise have trouble reaching. Fat bombs are high in calories and won't do much to assuage hunger. To combat hunger, I think you would be better off eating more typical keto foods with protein and fat in combination.

Also, I think you have a good idea in shifting more of your calories to the evening meal when you are hungriest.

I would try to find out if it is a particular food or snack that is triggering your hunger. You could do that by eliminating things from your diet one by one until you find the culprit (if there is one). Give yourself a week between eliminating items so that you'll have time to notice.
