UPDATE Truck driver who pulled gun on motorcyclist was identified and has "given his side" of the story

No. I made the comment that it was incredibly threatening to knock on someone's window with the exception of an emergency while on the road. How is this 'hypocritical'.

The biggest thing I hate about this forum is the circlejerk. No one can bring up any contradictory belief without /r/motorcycles downvoting anyone to hell. You can't point out how stupid anyone else is around the group...it is as bad as motorcycle groups in the real world. I'd hope that being on the internet and Reddit in specific meant that MAYBE a little reason would be in you people, but no. Bikers are bikers and they have to prove they are by lashing out at anyone that has any sort of contradictory belief. It annoyed the fuck out of me, so I deleted my comment.

That said, I stand by my belief that unless there is an emergency, DON'T KNOCK ON SOMEONE'S WINDOW. It is a threatening posture. A car isn't a house....you don't go door to door selling girl scout cookies while on the highway. Especially when your people are driving like assholes, passing people in the dirt, bumping into others while splitting and then get upset that some 'damn cager' flips you off for using the road as a private track.

As someone that rides, I've found myself caught up in these things on both sides. I've been riding and a group of guys come out of no where and act like idiots. I do my best to change directions if I can -- or pull over if I'm on the high way. I don't need to get arrested because a group of idiots want to act this way. And I've been in my car when a group of guys decided to shut down the road for whatever stunts they were doing -- and I've had someone knock on my window when I was in the middle trying to get over and out of their way...with some genius banging on my window telling me that I should 'just pull over and wait'. Thank you genius...for telling me what I already figured out. And thank you for making an uncomfortable situation even more uncomfortable.

The fact is, biker culture is fucked up and threatening and anyone that isn't out to defend it to the end of the world knows this. I wish that the culture wasn't all about being a fucking outlaw or on the other side, showing that you are as close as you can be without actually crossing the line. Why can't it just be about riding bikes and enjoying yourself??? Without acting like assholes???
