If there is any friction in applying, I simply don’t.

I honestly feel like this is kinda the point. There is going to be friction with things in any job. You're going to get handed something less than perfect and told to make it better. If your approach to facing friction is giving up, you may not be a candidate.

When document ETL is so great that your pdf resume is parsed perfectly and put into the proprietary hiring system any company uses, we might avoid the data entry tedium. But for now it's what separates the people who can't be bothered from the people who really want the job.

Separating the people just window shopping from the people who's fridge fridge is dying and actually need to purchase a replacement quickly.
