The upper-middle-class is not your enemy

Come talk to me when doctors are voting en masse to dump undergrad like they do in Europe, go to school functionally for free, like everyone, but get paid 60% of the salary they currently are.

Doctors will never support that as a group because the majority of doctors, like 70% not 100% just to be clear, are the petite bourgeoisie. They were considered to be a major potential support of the rise of fascism and this pretty clearly did happen. Rather than risk their status in the fight against the haute bourgeoisie they sold out the proletariat for the illusion of power and success.

They are all the people on this post, getting double and triple digit upvotes, saying government and government spending are bad and pushing right wing economic policy. They could very easily learn some actual fucking American history and realize that the failure of government spending in America vs other countries is the result of the wealthy, and their own social class, purposefully sabotaging government to "starve the beast" and prevent it from functioning because they believe, rightly for the haute, but perhaps not the petit, that that will enable them to take permaneny economic hegemony over the lower classes and exploit their labor to their own benefit.

You also have to consider the people who bought in 100% to storing the wealth of the middle class in housing who fight tooth and nail with no shame or self-reflection to prevent the production of affordable housing because it would lower their home prices. The NIMBYs and others like them.

In theory they could be the allies of the proletariat but in practice and before the proletariat started going after them, to shut down claims that the proletariat brought the betrayal on themselves which they did not, they are the enemy. Not just the enemy but the gleeful smirking enemy.

Everyone is talking about the difference between the merely upper middle class and the actual upper classes in theory but in practice the upper and sometimes even middle middle classes do everything in their power to fuck those below them as hard as they can. Except when they make a pretense of supporting them to maintain their self image and moral superiority.

To quote the socialist icon Phil Ochs: "In each and every American community there are varying shades of public opinion. The shadiest of these is the liberals(this is something of a standin for the upper middle classes). Ten degrees to the left of center in good times, ten degrees to the right of center when it affects them personally".

Really more like 30% to the right of center these days.
