(US- UT) DA recently ruled my case a "hard decline". What does this mean? Is there a chance the case can be reopened in the future? Is there a paper or written statement I could obtain from the DA stating my case is a hard decline?

Haha hey thanks for the laugh. I understand what you're saying. I understand there are pro's and con's to all religions- I see things in a clear light. Yes, that pastor was an asshole and dishonest in his dealings with me (won't get into that more). I see your point on the religious stuff. But I'm sticking with it.

As for the legal, thank you for asking your DA. I went to the DA office to try and get a written statement and the secretary looked up my case and said, "the case has been declined. Oh there's a note that it was a "hard decline", as opposed to just regular decline". I was confused not knowing what that meant and asked, "So the case is dismissed?" and they responded, "No- a hard decline. Only a judge can dismiss a case, but a DA or PA can decline a case. So it won't be prosecuted, it won't even go to a judge or jury. And a hard decline means there was little evidence for the case to be tried." The case was a gross miscarriage of justice, I did not do what I was accused of doing. There was no evidence for the prosecution and TONS of evidence for my defense, it shouldn't have even reached the DA's desk and so I wasn't surprised to hear that it was "hard declined", and I was relieved, but at the same time it just brings up new questions.

I asked for a written statement and the secretary gave me the DA's business card with their name written on it and told me to contact them. I'm honestly scared to talk with them- I don't want them or anyone (ie police) to twist my words and the have the case reopened for example. I'm just so completely scared. I've never been through this process, never had a record of any sort, and previous to this whole experience loved the police and was thankful for their service, never had a run in with cops, etc. So I don't even know if it's good or a bad thing to request a written copy.
