If you work for an Apple store, you would know that you cannot buy AppleCare+ if the item doesn't have the basic AppleCare on it in the first place. Not to mention that AppleCare+ has to be purchased within what, 60 days of the item's original purchase date? Which means the device would already have the norma 1-year AppleCare.
