USAF May Launch New Light Attack Aircraft Tests To Explore A Requirement It Already Has

I'm not a MIC.

This is why all MQ-9s in Afghanistan support special ops. Only those organizations have the ability within their own TOCs to rapidly spin from ISR to strike.

This isn't true at all. And even if it were, the ones supporting special ops still spend most of their time doing ISR.

I'm well aware of the "intended" role of MQ-9s, and have seen the full extent of their CAS ability at present. That is definitely a major factor in their operation and they absolutely do get mis-used, but as it turns out, if you build something like an ISR asset, people are going to use it as such. I don't know if you've worked with MQ's outside of CENTCOM and/or the 432nd, but it's not even terribly uncommon to fly them without any weapons at all. There is a far greater need for pure ISR than for "hunter-killer" or CAS operations.
