USCIS Furlough notices have just been issued.

First, my condolences on you losing your job.

Second, since USCIS is fee based, then a reduction in revenue means there is less demand for USCIS services. So I don’t see how it will hurt legal immigration.

Until the embassies open and until the Social Security offices open, demand for immigration services is going to fall. Halting the furloughs isn't going to solve anything. Immigration by people not in the USA now requires the embassy to be open. Immigration by people in the USA now requires the SS offices to be open.

Immigration also requires air travel to come back, COVID-based bans to end, etc.

So in short, the pandemic has to end.
