You’re clearly misinformed because Ohio law states you have to be paid up to minimum wage if you don’t receive more tips. It’s actually fairly standard to pay <min wage and for servers to receive tips for the rest.

Either way they end up making minimum wage, it does suck because it’s a $4 decrease in hourly pay so no matter what happens they make $4 less an hour.

Also you should be tipping if you go to a drive-in restaurant. It is different from a drive-thru where the worker isn’t checking up on customers, running food back and forth between the kitchen and cars/tables, and interacting with people for more than a few seconds to take their cash or hand them their food from a non-mobile station.
