Users of AskReddit, how did you find your career, and what's the best part of it?

Humanitarian aid worker:
While working for an embassy, I was often a bit jealous of the NGO-people I had meetings with. Asked an MSF person how to get into aid work and quit the next day. Since then I have worked in refugee camps and former battlefields across Somalia, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Greece, Uganda and Lebanon.

Whats the best part? That I daily get to experience the resilience of people going through tough times. It is such a cliché, but watching children play football next to the ruins of their bombed out homes, or to see the residents of a refugee camp put together a theatrical play, is truly an empowering experience.

There are plenty of bad sides too, but that's for another AskReddit...
