UTD over UTA?

If it makes you feel any better, UT Austin loses money by giving a majority of it's financial aid to all the minorities that aren't prepared for college. The 10% rule has really gone and bit the Texas school system in the ass. By accepting the top 10% from all the high schools in Texas means that they take the 10% from the bottom of the barrel as well. So while UT gets the best and brightest from Highland Park, Plano West, The Woodlands, Sugarland, Kingwood, and even more from the other private schools in Texas, they also get the 10% of the worst schools in Dallas, San Antonio, Sotuh Laredo, Downtown Houston, the bad part of Austin, etc. So assuming that 81% of people accepted by this rule enroll in UT Austin, 81% of the 10% of the worst schools in Texas enroll at UT Austin. These students are failing after the first semester because most of them have never even taken or heard of an AP/college level course, so UT has to spend more money on remedial classes to accommodate for these people severely unprepared for college. Colleges are seen by a lot of people are degree mills, and UTD is no different. They want you in and out after 4 years, other wise they're wasting money on you. Colleges see students as investments. Admit smarter people, these people have higher probability to become more successful and have higher income, resulting in bigger and more frequent donations, creating better facilities, better professors, and better education.

Colleges purposefully keep minority quotas to keep us Asians down on the Social Ladder. Asians Work harder than any other race, but affirmative action and diversity quotas happened. Everyone wants to go to UT Austin, but just like any other college Asians are going to marginalized in college admissions among other things like media portrayal, big business positions, politics and many other things. Be grateful that you aren't going to graduate with a shit ton of debt like a majority of people at UT. As far as I am concerned, you can become just as successful and qualified as someone in the UT EE program. And to be completely honest, you did not have to go to UT to get an EE degree. Seriously, EE is literally the same at every college in America. If you go to any Ivy only to major in EE, you know what they call you? An idiot. A fool. A person who hasn't finished their sentence yet to say that they're going to double major in EE and something else. You really shouldn't think to hard about choosing EE here over EE at UT. You saved a shit ton of money to get the same degree. Hell, You could have gone to TAMU or Houston for EE and you probably would have gotten the same education. The only thing that really matters, is everything that I mentioned in my post. Keep your head up. Don't think too hard about UT. You're not missing out on that much academically. As for the social aspect, I can't speak for you, but partying gets boring after a while. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe the drugs, or maybe it was the time when I was completely sober and everyone else was inebriated. Just seeing everyone at their worst was really disorienting and eye opening. That and the fact that people can be so vulnerable and exposed in the open was so alien to me. And seeing people take advantage of those under the influence -shudder- .

Here's an interesting read on some ignorance people feel about Asian Americans. https://www.reddit.com/r/asianamerican/comments/4ej2ya/asians_are_not_even_minorities_asian_privilege/

Check out that entire sub if you have time. Don't believe everything though, sometimes they just have major victim complexes and circle jerk a lot. This sub helped me a lot in times when I felt like the world was bringing me down. Really helped me discover myself. Well, not really, but it made me realize that I'm not alone in my problems.
