I understand the ultimate responsibility falls on Biden, and am glad to hear him say as much, but isn’t this actually attributable to military commanders and generals? They came up with the plans, and while Biden made the call, his job was to listen to the people he trusted and considered experts. So the execution is less what Biden decided to do and more who Biden decided to listen to. So I ask, what else should he have done? Who should he have consulted? How could he, a politician and not a war strategist, have changed his military expert’s plans for the better? I’m not even asking this to defend him or blame anyone else, I just want to understand peoples’ perspectives.
