This video is the culmination of a lot of complicated drama recently. I think it's important.

I'm a huge fan of both Maria The Witch and Peter Coffin, for pretty different reasons.

Maria tends to play this wolf pack role in the left, she's always holding us to a higher standard, and I think that's healthy for us. She's right that we need to be able to "self-crit," especially in ways that don't break left unity completely. But her criticisms aren't always great, and she's faaar from perfect. I've seen her say plenty of problematic things, and she doesn't always take criticism well, herself. Still great to have ace representation though, and she'll have my loyalty for that.

Peter Coffin is the opposite. He's the perfect leftist. Almost flawless. Almost. Maria got him though. It's because Peter Coffin is so good at what he does that we hold him to a higher standard.

So a lot of how I feel about these two people might seem inconsistent. I'm disappointed with Peter for mishandling this situation so spectacularly, and I'm proud of Maria for calling him out on it, even though Maria regularly makes this same mistake a lot. I'm not dismissing that. But just... she's right this time.
