Valorant wants more women and 'minority genders' competing at its highest levels

While i agree that in an ideal world it should not matter which sex you are, the problem is the feedback in the form of discrimination and objectification nonmale players receive on the Internet once they have „outed“ themselves as females or transgenders is for a big Part just ugly and digusting. Remember how world class Starcraft 2 player Scarlett‘s gender had always been a focal point, often even more than her actual skill? There was some truly ugly shit to be read in comment sections. And she always seemed to be pretty resilient. Being skilled, ambitious AND tonedeaf to the creeps, weirdos and sexists is probably a very rare mix. Creating awareness and a space, where they can develop their competitive skills and ambitions without constant harassment (or atleast less of it) in a professional setting is a good thing. Sure you can be cynical about a Company being opportunistic but then you are also ignorant about the the facts of our society.
