Valve, this kind of achievement shouldn't be allowed to exist. It's definitely not ok.

I also said most, not all, and that there would be exceptions. If you're going to try to pick apart what I say, you can at least quote me correctly.

Most games would allow you to achieve most of the achievements in game because it's more common (easier) for achievements to indicate progress than it is to make them clever. You may have had a point when they first started achievements but most games have them now and it's very common for them to just be indicators.

Any mainstream game (say Borderlands 2) will result in 70% (most) achievements on a causal playthrough. Other series (such as the Telltale 'games') are exclusively awarded upon the playthrough. Still others (more so strategy) have a shit ton for just winning a game as a certain class / character (which again isn't about skill, just about making a character for each type and doing a playthrough).

It's actually quite common across different game types in a variety of ways.

I appreciate you may like achievements and I wish more were skill based, but holding onto the idea they're something they clearly aren't isn't going to stop them from becoming more gimmicky...
