Valve's former head of VR on Facebook's involvement in VR/Oculus

I'll say this Occulus killed the concept of Kickstarter for me.

They raised 2.4 million from investors to produce the thing. Then FB swept in and bought it for less.

So in the end all these investors did was paid for FB to get a discount on a VR product. Seriously, why couldn't the Occulus Devs just have gone to the likes of fb and got the investment directly?

I get it. Kickstarter gives no guaruntees. But seriously to take everyone's money and the just sell out. That pisses me off.

It just means Kickstarter is at best a Pre order system where you have no guaruntee of getting your product or at worse a way of just taking people's money for 0 benefit.
