Why do a vast majority of adults don't watch only anime?

Mostly functional adult here! I only started watching anime because there was no good sci-fi/fantasy on TV, and when there's no or too-few good anime in a particular season, I've dropped the entire medium and gone back to streaming live-action Hollywood flicks or K-dramas. I also plan on putting anime entirely on hold Spring 2023 since no compelling shows have been announced and I have both Starfield and Kerbal Space Program 2 on my calendar for around that time frame.

Basically, anime is just entertainment, and if people are happy with the entertainment they're getting, the nature or medium doesn't matter. Some people like sports. I don't. I like Broadway musicals. Many people don't. Some folks do or don't watch anime. That's just how it is.
