Vegans of Reddit, what are some things highly misunderstood about vegans?

1] They they avoid all animal products, at all times, no matter what.

The definition is not complete avoidance of animal products under any circumstances, but to avoid animal products as far as possible and practicable. I feel like even some vegans dont understand that definition of veganism. It means if there is lactose in your prescription medication and there is no alternative without an animal product in it, you've gone as far as possible and practicable and knowingly consuming something with animal products in it, you are still vegan. If your vaccines are made with fetal bovine serum and there is no option to be vaccinated without being injected with an animal product, you have gone as far as possible and practicable as it is not truly practicable to live without vaccines in the modern world.

There are nuances to that definition that a lot of folks dont understand. Vegans are not about complete avoidance of animal products at any cost, they are about avoiding them when it is possible to do so.
