[Vent] I hate being judged because I have a leash reactive dog. [Discussion]

It does largely have to do with protection. For my dog, it's a control thing where he hates being unable to get close to another dog/human to see if they are not a threat. After reading this thread, I realized that he sees me as his "prize sheep" that he always wants to protect. My boyfriend is like his shepherd because he adopted him a little less than a year before we moved in together. My boyfriend primarily trained him first, then we continued the training once we all lived together. It's funny, but my dog is much more protective of me and follows me around everywhere.

In training, he's been able to meet another dog while on leash, but the behaviorist had to position the dogs perfectly so toby was able to comfortably greet it. After the greeting, they had no issues!
