Venus in Gemini

I wish I understood why so many in the astrological community seem to be irrationally terrified of Gemini and Mercury, and yet we have the obligatory daily threads about how generally awesome and worthy of reverence Scorpio supposedly is.

In my opinion, it's extremely silly. Both of my brothers are Geminian, and I also had a best friend for years who was. I won't claim that the sign is anywhere near perfect, but if you were to ask me if I would prefer to be marooned on an island with a Geminian, a Leo, or a Scorpio, the Gemini native would be chosen in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even need to think about it.

Gemini has three main (potential) problems.

a} Immaturity. Gemini and the third house correspond with roughly the ages of toddlerhood through to around 13. As a result, natives can be incurably juvenile, although they will tell you that that isn't always a negative thing. Gemini is instinctively young in the same way that Capricorn is inherently geriatric. Before anyone gets triggered by that, realise that I have a Capricorn Moon conjunct the midheaven, which as far as I am concerned, gives me the right to discuss Capricorn's positive and negative characteristics; and I have written already about both.

b} Superficiality.

Gemini/Mercury's purpose is the cross-polinisation of information; taking information from one place to another. As a result, a Geminian native will typically know a small amount about a lot of different topics, but probably doesn't have a doctorate in any of them. There are exceptions to the rule, of course; but I am speaking generally.

c} Disloyalty and promiscuity.

Sag suffers from the same problems as Gemini does here, and for the same reasons. Both of these signs occupy the same nodal axis, and both of them are designed for the purpose of movement, transportation, and the conveyance of information over distances, between many and varied sources. That also tends to mean, by definition, having large numbers of both friends and sexual partners. From the perspective of Taurus, Virgo, or Cancer, Gemini is very likely going to be sexually immoral, yes; but as far as Gemini is concerned, collecting honey from as many different flowers as possible is the sign's fundamental reason for existence.

The bottom line here is that yes, Gemini does have some faults; however, those faults are directly related to its' proper and intended functioning within the overall collective. Gemini is meant to screw around. Gemini is meant to be a used car salesman, or that dodgy bartender from noir films who was able to sell illegal firearms to people who wanted them.

If you want to have Gemini friends, you first of all need to suspend judgement, and secondly exercise self-responsibility about whether or not you can tolerate their behaviour. If you are someone who needs monogamy, then don't have sex with them. Virgo and Taurus in particular also need to realise that most of the time, when they are critical of someone else, it is usually they themselves who need to change, rather than the person they are criticising.
