[Vermintide 2] Markus: Greatsword vs Halberd vs Hammer?

This is where you could confirm a bunch of stuff, but much of what people have said is already there. The big take away on weapons is that there are different damage and stagger thresholds. As in its possible to stagger a bunch of enemies and do little damage, or do high stagger and damage to a single target, then obviously some mix in between. Usually, the best motions for hordes are horizontal slices without much cross crop. If you do, you prefer a motion that is up to down. A few characters have a low to upper attacks. Normally, you prefer downward to hit headshots.

As people have stated Greatsword is pretty simple to understand. Aim around head level. It does up to down, mostly horizontal damage. Has high damage threshold meaning it can do high damage to multiple things, but low stagger meaning you wont' likely stop many enemies attacks unless they die. You pretty much want to be using heavy attacks exclusively esp for armor +horde mixture as you can't do armor damage really without it. Its just slightly slower compared to light attacks.

Great Hammer imparts a high amount of damage into one target and low stagger, but low damage/stagger into 2nd+ enemies hit in the same swing. The heavy attacks up the amount of enemies damaged and greatly increases the amount of enemies staggered. Its damage output is just lower as a result.

Halberd has a mixture of properties meaning you need to 'combo' it to get it to work out right for a situation making it more complex. Something like Light1 -> Heavy2 for straight horde damage. While maybe something like Heavy1 -> Light2 -> Light3 or Heavy1 -> Heavy2 -> Light3. Even including push attack as well.
