Be Very Careful buying tires @ Costco

I didn't pick out or select the tire. Costco did. The sticker that is on the inner door frame of the passenger side (or sometimes on the inside of the gas flap) indicates the speed, size, load rating and type of tire that the car is designed for. The just picked "whatever". I actually like the ride of non-run flats better than the harsher ride of the runflats. Plus non-runflats are much cheaper - but I would have never picked regular tires knowing that the car was not sold with a spare, jack, or equipment. I was never told that they put these on my car. I have friends that tried to buy the non-runflats - but were told that this is impossible due to Costco's policy - so it never entered my mind to question what they were putting on my car. If you google the topic - you will find many unhappy customers that were refused service for asking for non-runflat tires on cars designed for the runflats (because being without any resources to fix the vehicle can be very dangerous).
