We fled in fear for what its worth
The price to pay was high
All to try to chase a dream
And not be passers-by.
Struggles oft, and toils hard
As time trudged slowly on
The bells had tolled so many times
Their fires never gone.
Like flame to spread they burned a path
Their wills willed ever forth
Moral compass kept astute
Pointed ever north.
Their struggles met with great renown
Their son had walked the path
College bound for studies broad
A wizard with his math!
Degree in hand for all to see
Success felt in his boots
All is owed to family
So don't forget your roots
