The Very Online Show announced with Jeff B, Lucy, and Tamoor

I found it a bit weird when Tamoor was addressing that criticism today about the souls show. He said it's really a lot more than that if you pay attention.

It's a lets play with two other factors:

  • Themes of life lessons being discussed. I've found the discussion fun and interesting, but no more than any topic that they would have filled the void with. It's nice that they have a more structured conversation so it's not filled with the standard silence and pure "whats happening on screen" conversation. But I don't think the life lessons are really there anymore than you might pull life lessons from any other game.

  • Editing in clips from Breaking Brad

I'm not really sure where this is anything different? I'm enjoying the new content and new faces, but it was just sold in a way that isn't reflecting in reality so far - talk of doing stuff you could never possibly do, bigger production or weirder ideas etc. Maybe it's the easier-to-start production to ease people into things as it gets weirder and the bigger production things take their production time.

The Very Online Show is probably the weirdest idea so far in GB terms, but I'll hold any praise or criticism til I see what they do. It could be the fun of an Internet Historian vibe, or it could be a video substitute for reading a Know Your Meme page.

As an aside, I liked the idea of playing a party game before the show premieres, so newcomers can get a feel for personality, albeit I can't sit through yet another jackbox stream - it's the NFL of video games, so much downtime!
