Very poor response rate to applications so far - any advice?

I graduated college (CS, no internship) two and a half months ago. I applied for hundreds of jobs over the past year. Very occasionally (like three or four times) got a coding assessment before getting rejected, but generally I got the immediate stock rejection response within the next few days.

I had ONE company that made me do three interviews and a coding exercise, and they just gave me an offer. They don’t pay a lot, but I don’t care at this point. It was a relief, because I was about to give up. I had nothing else going for me.

So, my advice is that it’s probably pretty hard for people like us with personal/school projects only and no related work experience. I think CS just has a ton of volunteers. I’m sure someone will give you a break.
