hmm. To me a house symbolizes security and safety. The fact that you weren't in your own house stands out to me because this tells me you feel more secure not in your own house but in your friends house. You also mention you see a dark tornado "heading straight for our house".

With your house being stripped away from you it seems like you no longer feel safe and secure. You are vulnerable.

The tornado represents great change in your life. You probably feel like you have no control over it. This unknown change came quickly and it was unexpected. Maybe you feel your life is "spinning out of control". . .

The fact that you didnt die in your dream makes me believe this is an on going issue you have in your life. What happened before you woke up? Did the tornado go away? Did you get hurt or killed and then wake up suddenly?

I'm not sure what the maid represents but she seems to be caring for you and the house. Did she cook you the food? You were eating more food than she was so maybe she was taking care of you really well - more so than she cared for herself. The maid also seemed to try and protect you - not only did she warn you about the incoming tornado she also tried to protect you when it hit by telling you to get in the bathroom.
