very specific and random question, but would you get mad at your kid if they forgot to place a pizza order when you were going to pick it up on their way from work?

Yes I’d be pissed, no I wouldn’t yell at them. I don’t do that. I also wouldn’t be less annoyed, because what’s the point of your offer? I’d probably be more annoyed tbh.

However my reaction would depend how old the kid is, because around early puberty (12-13) they both got kind of flakey and erratic, and before that they were too young to be reliable. Around 16 I started treating them more like young adults, but only once they showed they could handle that by demonstrating maturity and dependability. That includes things like cooking dinner or ordering pizza. But everyone makes mistakes.

Reading over your laundry list of complaints, I can see you’ve got issues. You sound young and reactive, so I can’t comment on your list of parental crimes without knowing what kind of goggles you are looking through. Maybe your parents really are awful (hard to tell on the internet). But from what you write I can see why your parents are annoyed. And I can tell you that nursing your grievances will not make your life better. Parents usually respond to what they see in their kid, who is a continuous work in progress. Your parents are likely to treat you better as they see you level up. But if you are using your phone during meals, you’ve got a way to go.
