Very tempted to quit my job without a new job lined up, am I justified in my reasoning or is it all in my head?

DO NOT DO THIS. Go ahead and start applying elsewhere, but don't leave your job without another job especially right now. 40 million people are out of work in the US. Economists are worried it will cause a recession worse than 2008. It may be difficult to understand what 2008 was like, but picture going to the jobs section of LinkedIn and seeing only one listing in your area. Tha isn't even hyperbole. Imagine competing for jobs at half your salary with people who have twice your experience. Imagine going to your high school reunion and finding out half your college-educated friends have been working blue collar and service industry jobs for the last year and are mostly taking on thousands of dollars in debt for grad school because at least there may be a chance of being relevant. Hang in there until vaccines start rolling out. Its good you have a solid emergency fund, but if freelance dries up and you haven't worked in a year what will that do to your marketability? What if the vaccine takes 2 years to discover and develop?
