A VICE documentary about Japanese manga allegedly enabling pedophiles reignites an age-old debate on /r/videos: is it okay to enjoy drawings featuring those with underage appearances?

Something worth noting is prevention project dunkelfeld: a treatment protocol developed in Germany that is effective in preventing pedophiles from molesting children, whether the program is entered willingly or by court order (usually following a prison sentence).

They do give people access to stuff like loli/shota/erotic fiction, but it isn't like they go around the corner and buy that stuff. It's given to patients in a supervised setting, in the sense that these people are regularly seeing and following up with therapists, and are going through and have finished the protocols that Project Dunkelfeld developed.

So, these materials can be used in an effective and therapeutic manner, as part of a treatment program, and there are effective ways to prevent children from being molested. Nothing is 100%, but it's a whole lot better than the current status of "absolutely fucking nothing" that the US has to proactively prevent child molestation.

Obligatory: I'm not saying that this kind of erotic material should be widely available, just that there are use cases for its existence.
