I am new to Arma can I join?

Yes! We always enjoy having gamers who are new to the Arma series. I know Arma can be a little daunting, but we will work with you in training and during missions until you feel comfortable on the digital battlefield.

Do I have to go through basic training?

Everyone has to go through basic training. Even the Command Staff went through basic training. For players new to Arma, basic training is to get them ready for the digital battlefield. For experienced Arma players, basic training is to inform you on the procedures of the 28th. Unlike other clans, where training takes many hours, basic training in the 28th consists of at least one 1-hour session. Of course, the amount of time depends on the player's experience. Newer players may need two or more sessions.

Can I have leadership position?

We are always looking for good leaders who are dedicated to both the clan and the men that they lead. Because we are a newer clan, the chances of you becoming a leader are pretty good. If you have the right skills and determination, you may find yourself a fireteam leader of vehicle command very quickly. In addition, we are a learning clan, which means that at times we will give leadership roles temporarily to members in a mission.

Are you a milsim or casual clan?

The 28th is a lite-milsim clan. Our leadership structure is loosely based off military leadership. We use military radio communications. We use military lingo. We use military ranks. We use mechanized infantry tactics. However, we recognize that this is a game, and that everyone is here to have fun. We are looking for that “serious fun,” where we are emulating military teamwork without the strictness and rigor that is required from actual military service.

Can members make their own missions and host them on the server?

We encourage members to host their own events for the clan. As long as your mission adheres to the official mod list, and is not scheduled at the same time as an official event, then there should be no problem. Do be advised that Command Staff has the final say on member events, but in most cases there should be no issue.

Do you guys have age restrictions?

No. As long as you can follow the clan core values (STAR), then we could care less what your age is.

What mods do you guys use?

You can read our official mod list here. Each mod on that list was chosen after careful consideration. Command Staff has spent hours tweaking and testing mods to have the most optimized Arma 3 experience as possible.

What is expected from members?

Besides following the clan core values (STAR), members are expected to commit a minimum of two hours a week (outside the official mission play time). This time is for planning, discussion, and general availability to the fellow members of your unit. Meeting this requirement is rather easy. Just hop on teamspeak anytime you are online, and before you know it, you will have met and surpassed the time requirement.

What if I cannot meet the time requirements?

Whether permanently or temporarily, members who cannot meet the time requirements will be placed on reserve status. When in reserve status, you will not raise in rank and will not be part of a squad. You can of course still play with the clan. You will basically fill in any open spots during official missions.
