You’re missing the point.

The father and his new partner both require that they keep their records clean if they want to stay employed i.e. pays for child support.

Dealing with an overgrown child who’s willing to escalate things and manipulate a high conflict birth mom is a direct threat to the aforementioned employment. Should that happen you can bet that the birth mom is going to argue in court that child support shouldn’t be reduced in the circumstance because it’s the “father’s fault”.

The father has the kid every second weekend. Assuming the birth mom is doing a shit job of parenting, it’s not like the father is going to be able to reverse that damage no matter how good of a job he does in the small infrequent window of time he gets.
