The Video Game That Has Had The Biggest Impact On Your Life?

This is a rather hard question as many games have effected me in different ways over time. But if I have to choose one I gotta go with Crusader Kings II. Allow me to try to explain and this won't be easy...

So in Crusader Kings II you play a noble anything ranging from a countess to a emperor (and the equivalent of such with different cultures) Now, this game is brutal in what you can do and what can happen to you. So imagine a scenario where you are a patriarchal society and you have two sons. Your eldest son is next in line to your Kingdom problem is you don't control him.... yet (you do when you die but literally the thousands of characters at any given time alive have their own agendas).

Now your eldest son is a pure asshole and incompetent as a ruler. Not a positive aspect about him. But your second and younger son is brilliant, a fine ruler and well respected. If you allow your eldest son to inherit you become him and will no doubt face a civil war against your now brother and likely lose.

If you change succession laws now you only risk angering everyone currently. Nor does this stop the eventual civil war, sure you may now be the playing as the younger and superior son when you die but this will weaken your nation regardless. And what if a foreign enemy takes this as a opportunity to attack you?

What do you do? The answer at-least for me is to attempt to secretly assassinate your older son. The very child you raised, tutored, and held under your wing for all those years. With him out of the way your younger son becomes the defacto heir ensuring the nation's stability for another generation.

Crusader Kings II teaches you just how far you will do great evil deeds you are willing to do. This is a game where you can order the execution of infants and sometimes there's even a logical reason to.
