To make the argument that saying there are mostly good protestors with a few bad rioters is not the same as saying there are mostly good police officers with a few bad ones. Why should the police not be held to a higher standard than citizens who are protesting? The good police (and there are lots) need to stop being quiet and join the movement to root out the bad ones. That’s the biggest issue here. And it is happening some places but not in all of them. I don’t think it’s fair to make the same argument about protestors. Sure it’d be great if they tried to stop the rioters and looters from latching onto their cause, but that’s asking a lot of them. And many protestors have spoken out against the looting.

I’m not a ACAB or defund the police guy, I know police officers in my community who are upstanding citizens. But I don’t see how anyone could see the repeated examples of racist policing in some cities and not think there needs to be systemic changes in many police forces. And protests and statements like the one UK posted here aren’t saying “all the cops I’ve met are bad” it’s saying “I understand that racism still exists in some police forces so I’m going to raise awareness to that issue.”
