Vietnam vet killed by police after fighting off naked intruder who attacked his grandson

they won't waste their time charging someone who reported the crime in the first place

Problem with your statement is that there are great police officers.

There are police officers who ARE working to protect and serve. They do this despite working in a system where being unethical is rewarded and even if taken a step further not punished.

This is what creates the problem for the public. Everyone wants to stand up for the great police officers, to the point that it’s political suicide to offer policy change.

In my opinion the largest problem with American policing is the lack of independent police investigations. How did you let your police have the authority to investigate their friends? That puts even the best/well-intentioned officers in very tricky situations.
