this. Ritalin in particular has been prescribed for 50+ years. researched extensively for long term health effects. proven safe and effective for ADHD long term.

yes stimulants inherently produce physical and psychological dependence for anyone regardless of whether they have ADHD. but so do SSRIs... stigma arises when a substance has the potential to produce a “high.”

if you really have ADHD, you dont feel “high” on stimulants. bc ADHD is a chemical imbalance that stimulants can balance. whereas for those without the ADHD profile chemical imbalance, stimulants can inversely create an imbalance that causes a “high”

is it really an “addiction” when someone takes a physically/psychologically “addictive” med as prescribed by a doctor to treat a physical disorder to enable you to live a healthy life? diabetes or ADHD, insulin or ritalin. both real physical disorders that have debilitating symptoms. both treated with physically and psychologically “addictive” substances. where is the line drawn?
