US vinyl sales rise 22% in first half of 2022

I don’t see why I should support local record stores.

They overcharge for records, don’t pay a living wage, don’t provide healthcare or retirement benefits, have stingy return/exchange policies and they generally make absolutely no attempt whatsoever to be ADA accessible for disabled folks like me.

Fuck that. I feel better shopping at even Amazon than I do at the local stores available to me.

I also worked in the industry and know that major retailers are much more important to keeping the industry healthy than the cute little local stores that come and go constantly and cost a fortune to service (from a distributors standpoint).

In the end I use Amazon, Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds for new records. For vintage records I use Discogs.
